Watch Cincinnati Police Save Woman from Ledge: 'There's an Angel for You'

Feb. 14, 2025
In recently released body camera footage, a Cincinnati police officer shared a story of personal loss with a distressed woman before pulling her to safety from the ledge of a parking garage.

A sympathetic approach and lightning-fast reactions from a Cincinnati police officer helped save a woman hanging from the top of a parking garage late last year.

The department recently released body camera footage of the Nov. 25 incident. Police responded to a woman in crisis who was hanging from the outside ledge of a parking garage.

In the video, an officer talks with the distressed woman, exhibiting empathy and urging her not to jump.  He even shares a story of personal loss with the woman.

"I lost my daughter many years ago, and I wish she could be here," says the officer. "They are angels looking over us. … There's an angel for you."

As the officer asks to come closer, the woman yells for help and appears to have trouble hanging on to the garage railing. The officer—joined by his colleagues—grabbed the woman, and they were able to pull her to safety.

"Being part of a community means looking out for one another," the department wrote in an online news release. "Officers are fathers, mothers, sisters, and brothers — just like you."
